Whilst on tour we will visit many of Cape Town's wonderful sights including Table Mountain, Robben Island and the Cape Peninsula Coast. It is our intention to visit two townships, Langa and Kayelitsha, as well as Baphumelele Children's Home, the charity we are supporting. We will play four cricket matches against local clubs and school teams.

Norfolk U13s vs Somerset College Match Report

The Norfolk Under 13 cricket team, sponsored by Almary Green, continued their tour of CapeTown with a thrilling tie against Somerset Prep College in a 20 20 match. Norfolk batted first on a glorious sunny day in magnificent surroundings. Wickets fell regularly on a very good batting wicket, which had  a slow outfield to balance the scoring rate. After a few promising partnership the innings finished on 89- 7 and seemed to be 20 short of the required total.  Danny Long retired with 22 not out.

When Somerset batted Callum Metcalf struck with 2 wickets in his first 2 balls to leave Norfolk on the front foot. Thereafter the game swung one way then the other. Bowling was becoming increasingly difficult as the wind became much stronger. Norfolk seemed to have the initiative going into the final few overs but this game kept everyone on their toes to the last ball when the Somerset top scorer was run out on the last ball attempting to get the winning run.

In the end a tie was probably the right result as neither team deserved to lose. On to the next match on Wednesday.
